I took your recommendations for Mexico City. They were bad.
I don’t mean bad bad. I just mean that, when I follow others’ travel recommendations, it kind of dulls the experience for me, you know? Or maybe you don’t know. Maybe I’m airing out my character flaws here.
I just mean that, to me, the beauty of traveling lies in discovery. In wandering around new streets for the first time and letting your instincts guide you. In, after hours of exploration and on pleasantly aching feet, popping into a cafe or restaurant that calls to you. The places and things you discover feel all yours—pieces of you, instead of a checklist to follow.
If you’d like a definitive list of the “best” things to do in CDMX, there are certainly hundreds of lists on the internet and on TikTok. I know, because I read them all in anticipation of this trip—that’s the “you” I speak to. But here are my personal highlights from my trip. I hope that this list serves as inspiration rather than instruction.
